The Friesland, built in 1663, was a second-rate ship. Armed with 80 cannons, it belonged to the great fleet of the United Provinces of Holland. Under the command of De Ruyter aboard the flagship “Zeven Provincien”, the Friesland was deployed with 77 other ships in the Battle of Solebay against the French and English.

The ship model shown is a true-to-scale replica of the Friesland.
This model was made 100% by hand with precision using traditional frame construction with hull planking.
Exotic fine woods such as teak, mahogany, rosewood or mango are used, resulting in a valuable and decorative premium model.
After completion, the hull is carefully sanded and, where intended, varnished. The model is then coated with a protective clear varnish.
Ornaments and decorative details (e.g. cannons, portholes, anchors, dials and wheels …) are made of brass, chrome or other high-quality metals.
The sails are made of fabric or silk, the masts of wood and the rigging of solid cotton threads. Some of these ropes have special knots that allow the ropes to be re-tensioned at any time.
Our models undergo strict quality control so that we can offer you a flawless product. The satisfaction of our customers is our highest priority. All models are delivered fully assembled.
