Named after the highest mountain in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, MOUNT WASHINGTON represents the traditional steamship era on Lake Winnipesaukee. Built in 1872 for the then enormous sum of US$62,000, MOUNT WASHINGTON served the population around Lake Winnipesaukee for over 67 years.

On the night of December 23, 1939, a terrible dock fire destroyed MOUNT WASHINGTON. Because of the low water level, there was no way to move the ship to safe water.
