Rainbow was built for the 15th America’s Cup in 1934 and was launched on May 15, 1934 in Bristol, Rhode Island, USA.
The “Enterprise” had won the Cup for the USA in 1930, and Rainbow successfully defended the title against the British Endeavour.
In the subsequent Defender Trials, Rainbow lost to “Ranger”, and the yacht was sold for scrapping in 1940.
