In 1929, Ford Motor Company president Edsel Ford commissioned the construction of the Typhoon as a sister ship to the “Teaser”. Both boats were designed by George Crouch. The Typhoon was twelve meters long, had three cockpits with room for 8 people, and was equipped with a 32,770 cc Wright Typhoon engine.
Edsel Ford mainly used the Typhoon to commute between his residence on Lake St. Claire and the Ford factories.
After Edsel Ford’s death, the Typhoon passed into the ownership of Howard Hughes in 1943, but he sold it again after the World War. In the 1960s, the boat was destroyed by a fire in a dock in Seattle.

This model was built 100% by hand and with precision using traditional frame construction with hull planking.
Exotic fine woods such as teak, mahogany, rosewood or mango are used, among others, resulting in a valuable and decorative premium model.
After completion, the hull is carefully sanded and, where intended, painted. The model is then coated with a protective clear varnish.
Ornaments and decorative details (e.g. cannons, portholes, anchors, dials and wheels …) are made of brass, chrome or other high-quality metals.
The sails are made of fabric or silk, the masts are made of wood, and the rigging is made of solid cotton threads. Some of these ropes have special knots that allow the ropes to be retensioned at any time.
