The sailing ship Alexander von Humboldt is a steel German barque built in 1906 as a lightship under the name “Reserve Sonderburg”. In the mid-1980s she was taken out of service as a lightship and converted into a sailing ship. Until she was decommissioned on October 9, 2011, she served as a youth and training ship.
