The RMS Empress of Ireland was a passenger ship of the Canadian Pacific Railway built in Glasgow in 1906. From June 1906, she operated a regular North Atlantic liner service between Québec in Canada and Liverpool in England.
On May 29, 1914, she sank after a collision in the Saint Lawrence River. 1,012 people lost their lives. The sinking of the Empress of Ireland is therefore the civilian maritime disaster with the third-highest loss of life before the outbreak of the First World War (after the Titanic and the General Slocum), and remains the worst maritime disaster in Canadian history.
Despite the severity of the disaster, the Empress of Ireland was relatively quickly forgotten due to the outbreak of the First World War. In 2009, the wreck was added to the list of National Historic Sites of Canada.

This model was made 100% by hand and with precision using traditional plank-on-frame construction with hull planking.
Among other things, exotic fine woods such as teak, mahogany, rosewood or mango are used, resulting in a valuable and decorative premium model as the finished product.
After completion, the hull is carefully sanded and painted where intended. The model is then coated with a protective clear varnish.
Ornaments and decorations (e.g. cannons, portholes, anchors, dials and wheels …) are made of brass, chrome or other high-quality metals.
The sails are made of fabric or silk, the masts of wood and the rigging of strong cotton threads. Some of these ropes have special knots that allow the ropes to be retensioned at any time.
