HMS Beagle was a British 10-gun Cherokee-class brig. The ship undertook survey voyages for the Royal Navy and became especially famous because Charles Darwin took part in Beagle’s second expedition from 1831 to 1836. From 1826 onward, Beagle was re-rigged as a barque for survey work, although Darwin, for example, continued to refer to her as a “ten-gun brig” in his travel account.

The ship model shown is a scale reproduction of the HMS Beagle.
This model was built 100% by hand and with precision using traditional frame construction with hull planking.
Exotic fine woods such as teak, mahogany, rosewood or mango are used, among others, resulting in a valuable and decorative premium model.
After completion, the hull is carefully sanded and, where intended, painted. The model is then coated with a protective clear varnish.
Ornaments and decorative details (e.g. cannons, portholes, anchors, dials and wheels …) are made of brass, chrome or other high-quality metals.
The sails are made of fabric or silk, the masts are made of wood, and the rigging is made of solid cotton threads. Some of these ropes have special knots that allow the ropes to be retensioned at any time.
